Statistical Terms

Mediation Case
  • Cases where mediation is requested to resolve a labor dispute that has taken place due to disagreement between labor and management on working conditions, such as wages, working hours, welfare, dismissals, and other treatment.
  • Mediation Settled: Where the mediation proposal has been accepted, or the case has been dropped due to a mutual agreement through arbitration by the LRC.
  • Suspension of Mediation: Where the parties concerned do not want a mediation proposal or have a wide gap in opinions.
  • Mediation Unsettled: Where the mediation proposal has been rejected, or the mediation has been called off.
  • Administrative Guidance: Where the matter is deemed not to be subject to mediation or arbitration.
  • Mediation Settlement Rate: (mediation settled)/(mediation settled + mediation unsettled) ×100
Adjudication Case
  • Cases where the employee or the labor union requests a remedy against the employer's unfair dismissal or unfair labor practices to the LRC.
Discrimination Correction Case
  • Cases where non-regular employees (fixed-term, part time, and temporary agency workers) file for discrimination correction with the LRC when they receive unfair treatment without any reasonable ground from their employers in terms of wages and other working conditions.
Plural Labor Union Case
  • Cases where the employee or the labor union requests the LRC to make decisions when there are some conflicts over the selection of the bargaining representative union, separation of bargaining unit, etc.
  • The number of cases of the labor unions requesting bargaining is a sum of the number of cases of the announcement of the fact of request for bargaining and the number of cases of the announcement of the fact that there has been objection to the final announcement of request for bargaining.
  • The number of cases of the determination of the bargaining representative union is a sum of the number of cases of objection to the majority labor union and the number of cases of the determination on the composition of a joint bargaining representative.
